Welcome to another OddLearning post!

This time we want to share some positive and encouraging words you should say to your child when you get a chance.

As Mother’s Day approaches we believe it’s a great time to do so!

It’s important we show our young ones how much we love and support them , and sometimes the right words at the right time can make a big difference.

We help them learn, grow and become amazing people.

We should not forget to tell them how much they mean to us and encourage them on the right way.

Thus, we will share with you a few  very meaningful words to encourage your children.

Lets us start with….:

  • I love you.
  • I love being your Mom / Dad.
  • I will never stop loving you.
  • I’m grateful for you.
  • I trust you.
  • I believe in you.
  • I appreciate you.
  • I admire you.
  • I understand you.
  • Im proud of you / You make me proud.
  • You can do it.
  • You are important.
  • You are very helpful.
  • You make me happy.
  • You look amazing.
  • You are good.
  • You are enough.
  • You are beautiful inside and out.
  • Your words mean a lot.
  • You have awesome ideas.
  • Thank you for being part of my life.
  • Our family wouldn’t be the same without you.

Not only compliments, but if they made a mistake it’s important we can understand and teach them in a positive manner.

Yelling won’t get the message across it will only inflict fear and mistrust.

  • I forgive you.
  • Nobody is perfect.
  • We all make mistakes.
  • Don’t give up.
  • You can try again.
  • I’m listening.
  • I know you did your best.
  • You have my attention.
  • Im here for you.
  • Im sorry.
  • Trust me, I trust you.
  • You are right.
  • You can try again.

I read this phrase in a book a long time ago, but most recently i heard it again with my son while watching Cars 3. 🙂

Don’t fear failure. Be afraid of not having the chance

Let’s continue with our list!

  • You don’t have to be perfect to be great.
  • Be yourself.
  • You made a great choice.
  • Seeing you happy makes me happy.
  • Im always happy when im with you.
  • I love watching you grow up.
  • You wont like everyone, and not everyone will like you and that’s Ok.
  • Im life is better with you.
  • There is more than one way to do things, so lets try it your way!
  • You don’t have to do something you don’t want to.
  • You can say No.
  • You can say Yes.
  • You have great manners.

A Mother’s Love

A Mother’s Love is like an island
In life’s ocean vast and wide,
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the restless, rising tide …
A Mother’s Love is like a fortress
And we seek protection there
When the waves of tribulation
Seem to drown us in despair …
A Mother’s Love’s a sanctuary
Where our souls can find sweet rest
From the struggle and the tension
Of life’s fast and futile quest …
A Mother’s Love is like a tower
Rising far above the crowd,
And her smile is like the sunshine
Breaking through a threatening cloud …
A Mother’s Love is like a beacon
Burning bright with Faith and Prayer,
And through the changing scenes of life
We can find a Haven There …
For A Mother’s Love is fashioned
After God’s enduring love,
It is endless and unfailing
Like the love of Him above …
For God knew in His great wisdom
That He couldn’t be Everywhere,
So He put His Little Children
In a Loving Mother’s Care.

A Dandelion for My Mother

How I loved those spiky suns,
rooted stubborn as childhood
in the grass, tough as the farmer’s
big-headed children—the mats
of yellow hair, the bowl-cut fringe.
How sturdy they were and how
slowly they turned themselves
into galaxies, domes of ghost stars
barely visible by day, pale
cerebrums clinging to life on tough green stems. Like you.
Like you, in the end. If you were here,
I’d pluck this trembling globe to show
how beautiful a thing can be
a breath will tear away.

Real Mothers

Real Mothers don’t eat quiche; they don’t have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried playdough doesn’t come out of shag carpet.
Real Mothers sometimes ask “why me?” and get their answer when a little voice says, “because I love you best.”
Real Mothers know that a child’s growth is not measured by height or years or grade. . .
It is marked by the progression of Mama to Mommy to Mother.

My Mother Kept A Garden

My Mother kept a garden,
A garden of the heart.
She planted all the good things
That gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine
And encouraged me to dream.
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rain came,
She protected me enough.
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong.
Markers for my pathway
That will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy.
And I hope today she feels the love
Reflected back from me.

Please and Thanks

You taught me how to wash my face
And how to use the potty.
You made me eat up all my greens
And wiped my nose when snotty.

You taught me to say Please and Thanks,
Because politeness is the way.
So ‘Please’ can I borrow some money?
Just kidding. Happy Mother’s Day!

We hope all the amazing Mother’s out there enjoy their special day!
